Biography
Darren first began performing at the age of 11 when he joined his local youth theatre. It was here that he found his love for performing, staring in musicals such as ‘Guys & Dolls’, ‘Annie’, and ‘Little Shop of Horrors’.
During his time at school Darren was always involved in the arts taking lead roles in musicals such as ‘The Beggar’s Opera’ and ‘Sweeney Todd’, and performing in venues such as the London Palladium and the Royal Albert Hall. As a musician Darren was a member of classical and jazz ensembles, and part of a very successful Gospel Choir with whom he toured to Prague and Greece.
After successfully completing his A Levels, Darren went to study at East 15 Acting School for a year. Although securing a place on the 3 year course, he then took a year out to travel the world before attending the prestigious Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts. After training for 3 years in all aspects of dance, acting, and singing, he graduated in July 2008.
Darren is also a talented musician playing the piano and saxophone. He has musically directed many shows, and in 2008 was musical director for Italia Conti Chislehurst at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London’s West End. He is also the musical director for Nickelodeon’s ‘Genie In The House’ overseeing all the music involved in the hit television show. Darren also teaches singing and musical theatre.
Darren is a dancer for the UK’s sensational tribute to the Scissor Sisters – Scissor Sisterz. He regularly performs with them all over the country with 2008 being a particularly busy year!
